site overview
The Shoalwater Bay Training Area (SWBTA) is one of Australia’s key Defence training areas, and its expansion will not only deepen our Defence relationship with Singapore but also support economic growth in the region. By the end of 2028, 14,000 Singaporean personnel will spend 18 weeks annually in the Shoalwater Bay Training Area.
The initiative provides the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) with increased access to Australian military training areas and is an important way of strengthening Australia’s bilateral Defence relationship with Singapore.
The project involves constructing new, and upgrading existing, facilities and infrastructure at SWBTA to support training activities of the SAF.
