site overview
The USFPI NT Training and Ranges Project is part of a significant increase in government spend on Defence projects and a major bilateral project between Australia and the US. The Australian government is investing in the long term development and upgrade of defence facilities across the Northern Territory.
Bradshaw Field Training Area is located at Timber Creek adjacent to the NT/WA border, and provides over 9,000 square kilometres of training area. Works at Bradshaw includes the upgrade of Nackeroo Airfield to enhance C-17 and US MV-22 Osprey aviation operations. Other works include upgrades at the Task Force Maintenance Area and a new enhanced urban operations training facility.
scope of works
Mitcon Projects delivered the full FRP package across 50 structures – this includes the provision of all labour, plant, equipment and materials to complete the works.
Works included survey, detailed excavation, steelfixing, formwork, concrete place & finish for footings, ground slabs and in-situ pits.
key outcomes
Through the Timber Creek Community Development Program we were able to build on our previous success with employing local and indigenous labour, and far exceeded the project specific levels in these areas.
As always, Mitcon was focused on delivering the best outcome for our client and this was evident in the project meeting budget and timeframe constraints. This project once again saw the Mitcon team battle the elements and work through extreme heat and humidity to successfully complete the works.
Mitcon's success at the BFTA Project has further cemented our growth into the Northern Territory; whilst expanding on our strong base of Defence Projects delivered on time and budget.
